I came across this amazingly beautiful house, situated amongst the sand dunes on the west coast of Denmark. I love the black painted wooden exterior and the beautiful huge concrete tiles that they have use inside the house and out. I can imagine how wonderful to would be to come and hide yourself from the world out here with only the sound of waves keeping you company....
Celebrate Scandinavian mid-summer this weekend (official date was yesterday) with this very yummy recipe courtesy of Madsens restaurant...
Recipe of the month
Swedish cured lemon and lime salmon
June is an important month for the Swedes due to Midsummer. The recipe of this months is a perfect choice for your Midsummer lunch or dinner.
This recipe serves 4 people.
60g salt 1 teaspoon white pepper 1 spoon lemon pee 1 spoon lime peel, 100 ml dill, 60 gram sugar, half a side of a fresh salmon with skin on
How to do it:
Mix the salt, pepper, lemon peel, lime peel and sugar together in a bowl. Check the salmon filet for bones, remove any traces of bone if you find it. Take the mixture and massage it in to the meat of the salmon on the filet side. When the mixture is divided evenly on the fish, sprinkle the fresh dill on top of it. Wrap the salmon in cling foil and keep it in the fridge for 48th hours. Remember to turn the salmon everyday After 48th hours take out the salmon and remove some of the salt. Slice the meat into thin slices. It is the easiest to slice the meat sideways. Serve with new potatoes and crème fresh or with home made potato salad.
Seeing the rush of volunteers, sponsors and donated materials show up, at 8am on Saturday June 25th at R.P. Johnson and Son in Andover, NH for the We Build it Forward Outreach event will be a powerful testament to the unity and giving nature of this NH community, but no more than the outpouring of support they have already seen from area businesses and citizens in the form of thousands in event sponsorships and material donations and dozens and dozens of volunteers. Notable team leaders include special support from Bonin Architects of New London. Sponsors who went well over the call of duty include: Marvin Windows and Doors, A.W. Hastings, Co, Inc., Old Hampshire Designs and The Lions Club of Sunapee.
The Lamino chair by Swedese is also one of my favourites and last year I suggested my parents buy one as they were looking for the perfect chair. Well, it is SO comfy and I always sit on it quickly when I get there before someone else takes it! The have the grey sheepskin like the one below - just so lovely. I came across this very lovely photo stream on flickr which contains so many of my favourite things - the Lamino, the CH24 Wishbone chair and lots of plywood...
I came across this house in Skona Hem this morning and wanted to share ;) Its an old station house in Arhus, Denmark (if my limited understanding of Danish is correct).....Its a really nice mix of old and new and those painted floorboards are just lovely.....Enjoy!
Just look at this beautifully constructed home in Jyderup, Denmark. It looks so warm and cosy and with those large windows you can the nature just coming up from the trees at the edge of the forest....This is minimal, understated design at its best, executed by a gifted craftsman.
How are you all today? In England it is raining and grey, but to me this is the best weather :) I just love it as it makes me feel even more cosy in my nest. Of course today is Icelandic Independence day, which is making me think about being over there even more today - to join in the celebrations and get some nature.....I wish.....
So this morning, I went over onto Koolandkreative, a fellow Icelander's blog and came across these beautiful ceramics. If you are a regular reader you will know that I have a thing for beautiful ceramics...
