Rustic, romantic beach home

On this foggy, cold autumn morning I'm dreaming of somewhere warm and far and away. Possibly because I'm going somewhere hot hot hot later on in the week for a wedding. And I LOVE weddings! So how perfect to come across this beautiful, rustic, romantic beach home in Sydney, Australia from Home Life. What do you say? Yes please!

I love that everything in the home has been brought back from all corners of the globe. The pieces work together beautifully against the white background. Such a lovely home!

I know someone in particular who is going to love this post...g'day Cas in Sydney! Big hug to you cheeky-bo! xxx

A New Thermostat that “Learns”?

Some of us are frustrated at the changing of the seasons – not because it's time to bring out the sweaters and coats, but because we have to find the directions on how to reprogram the thermostat!

Nest  | The Learning Thermostat
The new Nest Learning Thermostat might be the answer. Developed former Apple executives Tony Fadell and Matt Rogers, the Nest is said to be user-friendly with updateable software and nominal installation requirements.  Best of all, the Nest is easy to operate:  simply turn the dial to set the temperature as each day progresses on the screen.  After a week the Nest has stored and “learned” the data to keep replicating the first week’s settings.  Better yet, it has a motion sensor that can detect when the house is unoccupied, called Auto-Away™.  Auto-Away turns heating and cooling down automatically when no one is home, saving energy for you when no one is home.

Want to know if you’re saving energy?  It’s simple:  look for the Nest Leaf on the screen.

The Nest is a great way to see if you're saving energy every day.  Whether you're putting it in your primary residence or vacation home, Bonin Architects gives the Nest a thumbs up!

Have a lovely, toasty weekend!

See you Monday! x

Oh my darling Clementine

I love this soft, calm nursery, brightened up with a shock of colour using wonderful prints by Darling Clementine....

Picture: The bedroom was created by the clever blogger at Supersnella. Buy these lovely retro style prints at Darling Clementine

So guys, POETS (Push-of-early-tomorrow's-saturday) day don't forget!

Colour pop for your poppits

Happy Friday campers! We're nearly there! Woo hoo! In case you need some inspiration for the weekend - how about decorating your little angels room with brightly coloured furniture, wall paper / wall stickers and prints. I'm taking my inspiration from these rooms....

Picture: Family Living. Get the Sundvik table from IKEA and choose a lovely fabric to cover. I painted the surface of my little girls' table with black board paint so they can draw on it until their hearts content! IKEA also sell a shelf like this. Find similar wall stickers like the tree on the door at Inke.

Picture: Family Living. All little ones love their dolls to sleep in style - like in this Juno dolls cot which you can buy at House of Hedda , I love how it matches the bed! Try colourful fabric for your angels wall from IKEA and Inke for wall stickers.

Picture: IKEA Family Live. IKEA sells children's kitchen units, this play food and tea set. If only our angels could actually make us supper too?!

Oh so stunning white, grey and neutral home

Hello there! I think this home of designer Natasja Molenaar featured on 79 ideas is breathtaking! I love the tones, I love the raw wood furniture and I love the light. What do you love about this home?

I wish I knew where the beautiful table was from, or perhaps it was handmade, any ideas? You can buy Eames lounge chairs from Vitra.

Beautiful, soft looking blanket. I'm not sure where this is one but Himla or The Conran Shop sell lovely winter warmers.

Buy glass storage jars like these from IKEA

I love the shelving unit at the end of the bed but sadly no clue where it's from.

Fired Earth sells beautiful 'bowl' sinks a little like these

Flower bed

Keeping with today's plant theme, I LOVE this bedroom shown in Bo Bedre. The tree bedding is from By Nord. In scandinavia it's more usual for couples to have their own single duvet rather than share a double, which is why this symmetrical tree design is so clever.....what do you think?

Hot plant

Hi friends! The Scandiavian plant of the moment is Corokia 'silver ghost'. It is very dark, silvery and beautiful and it's taking the interior world by storm. Here's how the Norwegian interior design guru's are displaying theirs...

Since it's raining and I'm sitting in a cosy café, I've got all the time in the world to look at beautiful home interiors. Why can't everyday be like this?! Back in a bit with some more pics! Kram!

Colourful in Copenhagen

Morning all! I've found the perfect apartment crammed with colours that 'fizz' and 'pop' to brighten up your Tuesday! What do you think of this zingy home of Nicolai Eis in Copenhagen featured in Bolig Magasinet? I can't believe it's only 42 metres square, what a clever use of space and so inspiring for anyone living in a small pad.

Try Lauritz for a beautiful classic Wegner Shell Chair  FH1936

Find a Flowerpot VP1 light pendent like this blue one at ylighting. The Hang It All coat hanger is by Vitra

The coat hanger is Vitra (see above). The wonderful Plopp stool is from Hay, get one from Rum21

The shelving unit is from Montana and the wood lamp is from Muuto

Wood lamp from Muuto as above.

Soaking up a converted Gotland brewery house

Hi and Happy Monday!  I loved the 'cosy' picture from Friday so much that I felt it would be rude not to show the entire house. So here you are, a beautifully renovated 1862 brewery house on Gotland, an island on Sweden's East coast featured in Sköna Hem

Is that a vintage Tolix stool I see hiding in the corner? Find reproduction vintaged Tolix at Rockett St George. Nice way to store your mago's.  I love the contrasting colours on the wood panelling.

The polish concrete floor looks fabulous and actually quite warm! For Tolix bar stools like these see previous.

Watch out - don't sit on the poor dinosaur! Check out Dinosaur Time for models like these to add a bit of GRRRR to your bathroom.

And didn't I promise for some colour's that pop and fizz this week too?  The hottest colour that everyone's blogging about right now is BLUE. So in case you fancy singing the blues this Monday, perhaps these lovely pictures will inspire you...
